Songyos Sugmakanan, nicknamed Yong, is a director, screenwriter, and producer born in Bangkok, Thailand. He is graduated with a Bachelor of Communication Arts specialed in Film and Photography from Chulalongkorn University. Nowadays he is Managing Director of Nadao Bangkok Co., Ltd.
After graduating, he had no job, so he spent two years as a freelance photography freelancer, initially scripting A Riser for a six-sided mirror documentary, and resigned for three months. He later decided to fly to the United States to serve in San Francisco for more than a year, until one day his friend recommended the position of an assistant for advertising director, Thanonchai Sornsrivichai, at production house PHENOMENA CO., LTD.
One of his works more know is "Fan Chan" (2003), a film that was the most popular and the highest-grossing movie of the year in Thailand. In fact, for that film, he won The Best Director in "The Asian New Talent Award" (2004) and "The Thailand National Film Association Award" (2004) together with the others five directors.
